As owner of Dirty Deeds, a tech-savvy company specializing in the age-old art of revenge, Eden Smith knows first-hand that secrecy is critical. But when a dead body washes up on the shores of Lake Michigan clutching her business card, Eden’s well-constructed world begins to fall apart. Apparently, she’s not the only one with a passion for payback, and staying alive to outsmart a killer has become her most important job of all.
A Game for a Game
Hardened homicide detective Kelly Riordan is convinced Eden Smith is hiding more than she’s willing to admit. Years on the force have taught him that nothing is what it seems, and that couldn’t be truer than when it comes to investigating the alluring owner of a revenge-for-hire business. But revealing her past could put everything Eden has worked for in jeopardy. And trusting a man like Riordan goes against the very instincts that have kept her alive this long.

It’s been said that revenge can be sweet, but when it came to writing DIRTY DEEDS, the first romantic suspense in my A Likely Story series, I knew the characters would be…um, not. I mean, come on. Anyone who has made the decision to dish out payback for a living, probably knows a thing or two about deceit. Eden Smith, quick-change con artist and owner of the revenge-for-hire DIRTY DEEDS, is no exception. Add in her sharp tongue and fierce determination she’s doing the right thing, and I knew I would have my hands full when I decided to tell her story, and not only because she likes to navigate in the gray area that hovers just outside the law.
But man oh man, the thought of tapping into Eden’s personality and finding out what made her tick was just too darn juicy to resist. Especially once I pitted her against homicide Detective Kelly Riordan, a guy who is every bit as smart as he is a smolderingly hot Alpha male. Ei-chi-wa-wa, the way these two butt heads was enough to singe my fingertips as I clicked out their story across the screen.
So, I guess I could hedge here and say Eden has her reasons for what she does for a living. After all, that’s the truth, and they are darn good reasons at that. But don’t pick up a copy of DIRTY DEEDS expecting something sweet.
This revenge is full of angst…a whole lot of sexy angst and suspense. DIRTY DEEDS is gritty, dangerous and contains a whopping good dose of dark humor to boot.
And the honest truth is, I just cannot wait for readers to find out why…
